Immortal Elements is a meditation on time, transmission, and the enduring power of the gaze. Somewhere between memory and renewal, these photographs reveal a nature that does not speak for itself, but is simply there—silent, attentive, and eternally alive.

Pierre Fauteux’s exploration of the Reford Gardens’ immediate surroundings captures a natural world in constant evolution, yet strikingly consistent with itself.

The project engages in a deliberate dialogue with the work of Robert W. Reford, a Canadian pioneer of photography who documented the natural landscape of the Lower

St. Lawrence region 100 years ago. By choosing to work with a camera that once belonged to Mr. Reford—a restored 1930s Goerz Tenax—Pierre Fauteux grounds the medium in its own history: the tool becomes a vessel for memory, extending a chain of actions and intentions.
